I just got back to Austin from a quick 10 day trip full of Flight Schools and the ABA race up in Lincoln, NE. Even with the crazy heat of summer, I had a great time riding different tracks every day and hanging out with everyone. The clinic stops were Amarillo, TX, Yukon, OK, Wichita, KS, Kearney, NE, and I finished up in Lincoln and then hung out to race some A-pro.
Friday morning I went over to a local radio station, The Blaze 104.1, for a quick interview on the morning show. Jamey Montey from the track set it up and it went really well. I got to drop a lot of plugs for Redline and talk about the national, MTV ‘Made’, and BMX in general. It was a cool experience ’cause most people know I love to hear myself talk.
It was a hot, humid weekend but we couldn’t have asked for a better track…super smooth and fast! My results were pretty ‘blah’ as I couldn’t buy a decent gate start. I fell over in the gate (like a squid) on Saturday, and spun out on Sunday…ending up with a 5th and 6th. The Adventure-Redline team from Minnesota was in the house and had some great team finishes with a 1st and 2nd. I’ve also got to give a shout out to the Redline-Challenge team’s 7expert Brenden "Lynchmob" Lynch who came all the way from Bakersfield, CA to finish the weekend with a pair of 2nds. He’s a little shredder for sure!
It’s nice to be home for a few days to do laundry and get in some hot laps at the local trail spots. It’s a short stay as I’m heading out Sunday for a two month journey that includes Reno, Chula Vista, Interbike in Vegas, the Redline Cup Finals and the ABA Disney Cup in Orlando. Lots of miles, lots of sunshine, and lots of fun! Gotta love the BMX life! Who needs a real job???
Here are a few clinic pics from the trip:
Thanks to all the tracks for hosting the Flight Schools and thanks to the riders for coming out to shred!! See you guys in Reno.
