Ssquared’s Josh Meyers taking the outside line to Redline’s Denzel Stein into turn one at the Great Salt Lake Nationals. Hopefully, they can lead some people around the track in Pietermaritzburg.

With Donny Robinson and Kyle Bennett both out of commission after suffering training injuries at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Mike King and the USA Cycling crew had two Elite spots to fill on their roster for the UCI World Championships going down in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on the weekend of July 29. Those spots will be filled by Florida’s Josh Meyers and Redline’s Denzel Stein (of DeSoto, Texas.) Both replacements received the news and headed to the OTC in Chula Vista with only a few hours’ notice.

Redline-sponsored Stein pulled the discretionary nomination after having a solid ‘Power Ranking’ at the last few UCI races stateside. "While we’re sad Donny and Kyle won’t be able to participate in the event, we are excited to be able to offer two top young talents the opportunity to gain experience on the world’s highest stage," said USA Cycling’s BMX Program Director, Mike King in the official USA Cycling release regarding the matter.

Meyers and Stein will be joining a roster that includes Junior Elite Men: Connor Fields and Corban Sharrah, Elite Women: Arielle Martin, Amanda Geving, Alise Post (Redline), Ashley Verhagen and Amanda Carr, along with Junior Elite Women Brooke Crain and Taylor Wolcott.
