12/26: We show up to the Zolder Raceway at 7:30 and there was a light drizzle out. We ride 2k to the sign in and barring some issues at sign in all 9 of us got signed in. The course had a lot of flat windy stretches and a few steep down hills nearing the finish straight. I got a front row call up, about the 5th spot. The start light turned green and we were off. I slotted right behind Mathiue Van der Poel in 3rd place going into the 1st turn. I was fighting with his teammate for his wheel for the 1st few corners. Both his teammates halfway through the 1st lap sat up and blocked for him in the single track and let him get a sizeable margin. They then proceeded to attack and gapped me off a bit. I fought back and attacked one of his teammates and was in 3rd for a bit. He then attacked our group of 4, containing fellow US teammate Drew Dillman, and gapped us off. Drew and I continued to share the pace making as a Fidea rider sat on our wheel. Drew eventually died off and we hit the last lap 15 seconds down on 3rd and had the Fidea kid still on my wheel. I drilled it for the last lap putting about 2 seconds into the Fidea kid by the time we hit the final 300 meter start/finish stretch and we were about 4 seconds down on 3rd. I couldn’t get into my big ring in the sprint and the Fidea kid was just able to edge me at the line. I finished 5th only 3 seconds down on 3rd and 1 minute down on Van der Poel, a great ride considering how fast this kid is.
