Day 1 of the Gator Nationals is in the books and the Redline squad put in some solid laps! First off, we’ve gotta give a big shout out to Redline/M-1’s Justin Riddel for making a pass at the line to take the win in A-pro. In the elite women’s class, Alise had a great race against the gold medal winner from London, Mariana Pajon, and followed up her 2nd place in last night’s continental championship with another second. Last but certainly not least, Sam came in for a big win in the elite class after surviving a little scare in the 1/4 final. One more day to make it happen out there. The Oldsmar track is in great shape and the weather is supposed to be perfect again tomorrow, so we’re planning on a big day!
Sunday proved to be another great day for the Redline riders! Justin Riddel’s exciting come-from-behind win made it a perfect weekend for Redline/M1’s A-pro sensation. With the USA BMX season barely getting underway, it’s a safe bet that he’ll be on the gate with the elites by the end of summer!
In Elite Women: Alise Post had to work hard after a first straight run-in with Mariana Pajon to earn her third trip to the podium, making a last-straight pass to score third. With a 2-2-3 on the weekend, it’s safe to say that she’ll be hungrier than ever in TX to return to her winning ways! On to the Elite Men: What can we say about Sam Willoughby that hasn’t already been said? The guy is a winning machine and a double this weekend made it three-in-a-row for the jolly young lad from Adelaide!
After laying down some ridiculous first-straight pull and booming the triple into turn one for the fans, Sam held off a charge from US Olympian, Conner Fields, to take home first place dollars again on Sunday!! After a dissapointing quarter final on Saturday, Tory Nyhaug #49 came back on Sunday and proved why he’s the Canadian National Champ and Olympian, passing Donny Robinson on the last straight to grab the third and final spot on the podium!
We want to congratulate all of our riders on a great weekend of racing and acknowledge Oldsmar BMX for being a top-notch host and first class facility! Next stop on the circuit is Metroplex BMX in Desoto, TX for the USABMX Super Nationals. With Desoto being the home town of Redline elite rider Denzel Stein, it will be a great place for him to return to form from his wrist injury and show the hometown crowd what Texas-pull is all about! See ya there, race fans!
