Just finishing up a windy weekend up in Woodbridge, VA for the NBL Freedom National. We ran on the ‘pro spectacular’ format Saturday which is always a good time…autograph session at 3:00, practice at 4:00, and racing at 5:00 with motos spread out 30 minutes apart. I’m a big fan of the new NBL schedule and I think it’s a great way to showcase the elite riders. The autograph session is also a cool way for the racers and fans to connect with the pro’s.
The racing was mediocre for me with 6th and 4th place finishes. I’m feeling better and more confident each race and I’m putting in the work so the results will hopefully follow soon! Props to Joey Albright for picking up two big wins.
The highlight of the weekend was meeting Amir ‘Doin’ it Big’ Williams. He’s an up-and-coming 15 year old from Woodbridge and somehow I made it on his bucket list of people he’d like to meet. He was in need of an upgrade so I hooked him up with my back-up bike…the ’09 Flight I raced on last season. Hopefully he can shred his way to the expert class on that thing! It was definitely a cool experience and a funny story. You can scratch me off the list Amir but no rush kicking the bucket!!
Next stop on tour is the ABA race in Dothan, AL this weekend. I’ll check in from there. Laters, jc
